He might not be taking the job of making Thor 2 as was rumoured earlier this year, but it appears Brian Kirk has found something else to do – he’ll direct Midnight Delivery for Universal and producer Guillermo del Toro.
Delivery was announced back in September 2010 as one of the many projects del Toro had bubbling away, after getting the studio to snap up the rights to Luther creator Neil Cross’ screenplay.
The plot finds a father who has to resort to becoming a drug mule in order to help save his son’s life. There’s still no sign of whether that’s because his son is kidnapped to force him into carrying the narcotics, or so that he can pay for medical treatment.
Kirk, who was one of the main directors of Game Of Thrones (and who has shot several episodes of the new season), also has rodeo drama Paper Wings sitting on his list of possible film projects. But we’re guessing Midnight Delivery will likely shoot first, especially if GDT has anything to do with it.
