Brett Ratner might be taking a little time to decide which film project he wants to make next (Beverly Hills Cop IV? Tower Heist? Playboy? The list is seemingly endless), but the downtime from wielding a megaphone is giving him plenty of time to play producer and pick up projects through his compay, Rat Entertainment. His latest purchase? T_he film rights to comic book series **The Unknowns){href='http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118022210.html?categoryid=4026&cs=1&nid=2564&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+variety%2Fnews%2Ffilm+(Variety+-+Film+News)' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer'}.
Published by Femme Fatales Comics, the title was created by Mark A Altman, Seteve Kriozere and actress/model Monica Olsen. Together, the three cooked up a tale of Alexis Davenport, who drifts through her ordinary life until she learns that she was once the deadly leader of a mysterious team known as – you says the name, you wins the prize – The Unknowns.
The discovery launches her on a quest to discover just why someone would go to great lengths to wipe her memories and get the old gang back together. "We think The Unknowns will be a great new comic book/action franchise," Ratner tells Variety, which is a shock as we thought he was going to turn it into a Bollywood musical.
While Ratner will produce, he hasn’t actually targeted the movie as one he’ll end up directing, so he’s now on the look out for likely talent.
