While his big screen career hasn't been filled with success and blockbuster jobs of late, Brendan Fraser has found plenty to keep him busy on TV. He's now joining the cast of the DC Universe series Doom Patrol.
The show, which will be shown on the comics company's streaming service, brings the unusual superhero team created by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premian in 1963 to life in live-action form. Supernatural veteran Jeremy Carver is the main writer for the show, which unites a group of powered outcasts under the leadership of the mysterious Dr. Niles Caulder and Cyborg (Jovian Wade). Together Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero) go on a mission to the weirder corners of the sprawling comics universe.
Fraser will provide the voice-over for Robotman (to be played in costume by Riley Shanahan on set) and will appear in flashbacks as his alter ego, Cliff Steele. A racing driver who was horrifically injured in an accident, Steele's body was replaced by Dr. Caulder, leading to the creation of Robotman.
With DC TV supremo Greg Berlanti producing alongside Sarah Schecter from his company and DC's Geoff Johns, the show should hit the subscription services next year.
