While some of his recent big screen work seems mostly limited to smaller movies he produces and the likes of Furry Vengeance (shudder), Brendan Fraser has kept things ticking along on TV with roles on shows such as The Affair. He has joined the cast of Danny Boyle's new US TV project Trust.

The anthology series, which will launch with a 10-episode first season, focuses on the 1970s kidnapping of John Paul Getty III, heir to the family fortune and snatched from the streets in Rome for a hefty ransom demanded by his mafia captors. There was much drama at the time as his grandfather, J. Paul Getty, initially refused to pay.

With the focus on the family drama and dynamics, the show has Hilary Swank playing the young Getty's mother, with Harris Dickinson as the victim. Donald Sutherland is on to play J. Paul Getty. Fraser, meanwhile, has scored the part of James Fletcher Chace, the senior Getty's private investigator, described as an eccentric Texan fixer.

This latest job will have him racking up the travel miles in the coming months as he switches between work on thriller series Condor in Toronto and the London/Rome sets of Trust. Boyle should kick off work on the series (written by Simon Beaufoy) this month.
