Universal, you really are really spoiling us. Because despite still being a fairly long-term prospect, they have honed, rendered and perfected a whole two-and-a-half minute scene from Despicable Me and released it as a trailer so we can sample just what we'll be getting next year.
With a cast covering some of comedy's biggest and brightest talents - including Steve Carell as the said despicable one, named Gru; Jason Segel; SNL funny girl Kristen Wiig; Will Arnett; the ubiquitous Russell Brand; Flight of the Conchords very own Hipopopatmus Jemaine Clement, 30 Rock country boy Jack McBrayer and the grandmama of cool Julie Andrews.
The film follows Gru, an evil genius masterminding the biggest heist in history: to steal the moon. His wicked ways go unchecked as he plots and schemes from his lair, until one day he meets his match in three little orphan girls, named Margo, Edith and Agnes, who just want him as their dad.
Despicable Me, for which there has just been an official site launched, won't hit cinemas until July 9 2010, but it looks like it should be well worth the wait.
