Kevin Smith may no longer be involved with the Fletch Won project, but Irvin Fletcher’s cinematic rebirth still appears to be on track.

Garden State writer/director/star Zach Braff remains the hot favourite and he’s been talking about the latest developments. "The script isn't written, but I know it's based on one of the books, Fletch Won, and I think they want something that'll be faithful to the book," said Braff. "As I understand it Harvey Weinstein wants to make a truly traditional Fletch movie like the great Chevy Chase one. Kevin Smith's not doing it anymore; I don't even really know what happened.”

But he did hint about who might be working on it next. “They’re talking to Bill Lawrence, the creator of Scrubs, to do the script, who'd be the perfect candidate for it."
