This month sees Brady Corbet tell the story of a young dictator with his feature-length debut, The Childhood Of A Leader, starring Liam Cunningham, Bérénice Bejo and Robert Pattinson. But before the award-winning drama has even had the chance to hit UK screens, Corbet’s next film has already been announced.
Moving from fictional history to the world of music, Corbet is once again looking to write and direct his next project, titled Vox Lux, described as the “21st century story of Celeste, a pop star who comes to success as a result of unusual circumstances”.
Talking to TheWrap during his Childhood Of A Leader press tour, the actor/director/Brady of all trades spoke of his excitement to move on to something that didn’t take 10 years to develop à la Childhood. “I spent so long on Childhood. I needed a new experience with a quicker turnaround.”
Having received both Best Director and the award for Best Debut Film at Venice for Childhood Of A Leader, it looks like Corbet’s tutelage whilst acting for Lars von Trier (Melancholia), Michael Haneke (Funny Games) and Noah Baumbach (While We’re Young) has definitely paid off.
Though no casting has been announced, Vox Lux is due to start filming in January.
