Chris Cornell's death in 2017 robbed the world of a considerable musical talent. And now his life and work will be brought to the screen. Brad Pitt and Peter Berg are planning a documentary on the man who fronted both Soundgarden and Audioslave, though it doesn't yet have a title.
Cornell rose to prominence as part of the early Seattle sound, kicking off as lead singer of Soundgarden in 1984 until they split up in 1997. He formed Audioslave with members of Rage Against The Machine, playing gigs and recording albums until they broke up in 2006.
Soundgarden reunited in 2011 and was in the middle of touring in 2017 when Cornell was found dead after a gig in Detroit. His death was ruled a suicide by hanging. Through his career, he scored 16 Grammy nominations and won three, including a posthumous honour at last weekend's show.
His widow, Vicky Cornell, will be involved with the documentary, and Berg is on to direct. There's no word yet on when it might see screens.
