UPDATE: Warner Bros is denying this outright, but here for posterity is the rumour as it was...
This one's to be filed firmly under "rumour" for the time being, since it comes from a tabloid, but it's being reported that Brad Pitt is currently shooting a small role as Moriarty for Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes.
The inclusion of Professor Moriarty would be no great surprise: he's the most famous bad guy that Holmes ever faced, and when we went along to the start of shooting press conference and asked if the Professor was in it, everyone refused to answer but looked extraordinarily shifty.
According to The Mirror, Ritchie was ordered to add Moriarty by Warner Bros. bosses, and called his aul' Snatch mucker Brad Pitt to step in and get him out of difficulties. The paper claims that Pitt is now shooting at Cliveden House and in London on the film, and since we know that Robert Downey Jr.'s in town that would not seem impossible.
Frankly, if this is true it's an intriguing move: Pitt doesn't play bad guys often enough and he'd seem a good fit to play opposite Robert Downey Jr.'s more muscular-than-usual Holmes. But we wait to hear more...
Whatever the reason,
