Joey King is more known for romantic comedies such as Netflix's The Kissing Booth franchise and dramas such as The Act. She's now looking to jump into the action genre, joining Brad Pitt in new thriller Bullet Train.
Hobbs & Shaw's David Leitch is in the director's chair for the film, written by Zak Olkewicz, based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle by Kotaro Isaka. In the story, five assassins find themselves on a fast-moving bullet train from Tokyo to Morioka with only a few stops in between. They discover their missions are linked to one another. The question becomes, who will make it off the train alive and what awaits them at the terminal station?
According to Deadline, King's role is relatively small, but that she'd get to be a badass assassin. Leitch and studio Sony are looking to kick off work on the film this autumn in Los Angeles, with hopes that the more contained nature of the story will help with Covid safety protocols given that the movie doesn't have to spread its cast and crew around lots of locations.
