Plans for the Coen brothers' next picture To The White Sea have been put on ice indefinitely after the cost of filming the Brad Pitt movie soared. The film's producer Jeremy Thomas told ScreenDaily.com that he had lost hope in the film going ahead when the cost of securing Pitt for the movie broke the $55m budget. "It's gone," the UK producer said. "We were unable to sustain the budget size. It's a big gap." The film was to feature Pitt as the bomber gunner shot down in Japan during World War II - part of the selling point was the fact that a la Cast Away, Pitt would say next to nothing for the course of the movie. "The script is very unusual," Thomas said. "We needed elements like [Pitt and the Coens] to get it together".
