The Machinist and The Call director Brad Anderson's last film, Stonehearst Asylum, seemed to vanish without making much of an impact. He'll no doubt he hoping for better things from a new drama called FATE.

The script is by The Book Of Eli and Rogue One writer Gary Whitta, who came up with the original concept. It'll follow a bloke named Virgil who is on a serious downswing in life. Reduced to haunting the back alleys of Hong Kong, his world – what is left of it at least – is further upended when a mysterious woman tracks him down and asks for his help.

Other details on the movie are still a mystery, though we do know that Anderson is looking for the cast now, aiming to start shooting in the spring. It'll have the backing of production company Amasia, which helped bring The Call to screens.

Anderson has a few other projects on the go, and is in fact in production on action thriller High Wire Act, which was written by Tony Gilroy. Whitta, meanwhile, has his own set of films in the works, including Mouse Guard and The War Magician.
