He was last seen on our screens in The Host and will return to cinemas as part of **Behind The Candelabr****a **(out on Friday), but it’s Boyd Holbrook’s experience on TV’s Hatfields & McCoys that will stand him in better stead for a new job on **Jane Got A Gun.

Yes, the troubled Western drama is still being wrangled by Gavin O’Connor and seems to be on the right track now that it has a distribution deal. The new plan is to shoot in two chunks. Ewan McGregor, playing the bad guy, is filming most of his material in the second batch of production and Holbrook will be playing his younger brother.

Natalie Portman stars as the titular Jane, whose outlaw husband (Noah Emmerich) is double crossed and left for dead by his gang, led by McGregor, when they follow him back to his homestead to complete the task, she decides to hire a former lover (Joel Edgerton) to help her defend the place.

Holbrook is also set for indie drama Little Accidents, which finds Sara Colangelo writing and directing a film based on her award-winning 2010 short that arrived at the Sundance Film Festival.

Accidents sees Holbrook as the only survivor of a tragic mine accident that kills 12 men in a small town. Elizabeth Banks will play a woman whose son goes missing in the incident and who turns to Holbrook for support.
