With Bond still absent without leave, there's only one spy kid who really matters, and that's Jason Bourne. From his amnesiac beginnings in The Bourne Identity to his bumper-car antics in The Bourne Supremacy, Matt Damon's superspy has consistently torn up the screen. Which is why we're so pleased that Tony Gilroy has been hired again as screenwriter for The Bourne Ultimatum, the third in the franchise. The novel which the third book will be (very loosely, if past form is any guide) based sees Bourne once again pulled out of his quiet life to deal with the threat of a new assassin. In the book, Bourne's wife and child are put at risk by this new killer, prompting him into action. However, since events in the film series have already diverged substantially from the novel in regards to Bourne's personal life, that might require a little re-jigging. Gilroy has adapted both previous novels, so he's returning to familiar ground for this third entry in the franchise. You may also remember him from such screenplays as The Devil's Advocate and Armageddon, so rest assured that Bourne is in good hands. Matt Damon has already expressed interest in returning to the role, as did director of Supremacy, Paul Greengrass
