Back in April, you might recall that we brought word of a planned TV spin-off from the Jason Bourne books and films called Treadstone. American channel USA Network ordered a pilot, but has now pulled the trigger on a full first series of the show.
Created by Heroes man Tim Kring, the show will follow the titular training programme that spawned Bourne and other operatives. It'll look at the origins of the team and will track sleeper agents that are suddenly awakened to carry out deadly missions.
Ramin Bahrani, who last made Fahrenheit 451 for HBO, is on to direct the pilot and take a role as an executive producer. Don't go expecting Matt Damon to pop up, though they could always try to convince Jeremy Renner to reprise his seemingly one-and-done role as Aaron Cross in The Bourne Legacy...
The schedule for this one is still unknown, though Variety reports it'll kick off filming next year. This news comes ironically one day after USA cancelled another movie spin-off, Shooter which drew from the 2007 film and lasted three seasons with Ryan Phillippe in the lead.
