The film that showed the world that Matt Damon could cut it as an A-grade action hero, The Bourne Identity, has begun the journey back to our screens in sequel form. News that Robert Ludlum's second book, The Bourne Supremacy is being adapted won't come as news since director Doug Liman had previously said that he would try his hand at both the second book and the final part of the trilogy, The Bourne Ultimatum. However when news broke that Liman would no longer be involved, the future looked a little bleak for Jason Bourne. Now though, the amnesiac assassin has been plucked from the brink by director Paul Greengrass who is in negotiations to take over the franchise. Writer and director of acclaimed drama Bloody Sunday, Greengrass will pick up where Liman left off, bringing back Damon as Bourne. Anyone who has read the book will be a little stumped as to how things will progress given the first film's radical departure from the source material but, with a few Hollywood shortcuts, we're sure everything will fall neatly into place. The Bourne Supremacy will see a happily settled down Bourne dragged back into the world of intrigue and contract killings when he travels to Hong Kong to investigate the assassination of an official who has supposedly been taken out by the legendary Bourne - something that's certainly news to the man himself.
