You might think that a sequel to the US remake of The Grudge was pretty unnecessary, but that’s looking like the best idea ever compared to a proposed follow-up to last year’s least essential horror output, Boogeyman.
But Ghost House Pictures has clearly smelt the idea of cash and nothing will stop them from plunging headlong into the pond of dodgy second films.
And who is stepping up to call the shots on this eagerly anticipated cinematic gem? Well, Spielberg was busy so they’re getting Jeff Betancourt, who edited The Grudge 2, and will make his megaphone debut with Boogeyman 2.
The storyline has a young woman who has always been terrified of the titular horror voluntarily checking in to a mental health facility to try and help her paralysing fears. But – whoops! – she discovers that perhaps confronting her night terrors wasn’t the best plan after all…
There’s no cast attached yet, but Brian Sieve has worked up the script.
