Intrepid Pictures – the production company behind Neil Marshall’s upcoming 80s-esque action thriller, Doomsday – has bought the rights to upcoming horror comic book, The Bond Of Saint Marcel, with a view to turning it into a movie. Naturally – otherwise, why would we be reporting on it?

The comic, by Jennifer Quintenz, is due out in April of next year, and is published by Archaia Studios Press. It concerns a young woman who, after her family is murdered, discovers that her only hope of surviving the still-at-large killers lies with a 200 year-old vampire named Eamann, who has been reluctantly and secretly bonded into her family’s service for 200 years. The duo go on the run, but along the way, our heroine, Cat, discovers the killers’ real agenda: to free the vampire and unleash heck.

Sounds pretty cinematic – a mixture of chase movie and horror flick. A true Midnight Run, if you will.

Quintenz has also written the screenplay for the movie, but as of yet there is no other talent attached. But before this gets too much further into development, we’d change that title. Sharpish. It may work in a comic book, but for your average cinemagoer, it’s just too unwieldy. We need something more commercial: Stop! Or My Vampire Will Bite, perhaps?
