Two months ago, shooting began on the film still formally known as Bond 25 – the long-awaited next instalment in the 007 saga, with Daniel Craig returning (perhaps for one last time) as the iconic British secret agent. While the early weeks of the shoot have been subject to not-entirely-positive reports (around Craig’s ankle injury, and an incident with an injured crew member), a video has arrived offering a tantalising first look inside production.

The one-minute clip includes footage of Craig back in business, director Cary Fukunaga calling the shots, the return of Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, and a first look at Nomi – the character played by Captain Marvel’s Lashana Lynch. Oh, and there’s a whacking great explosion at the end – and more reggae than you might be expecting

This is all footage shot in Jamaica – filming kicked off in and around Ian Fleming’s GoldenEye estate, where he famously wrote his Bond novels. While this is all just promotional featurette footage for now, there’s a different style and tone at play here than in the previous two Sam Mendes-helmed Bonds – which had more muted, monochrome palettes and chillier locations. We’ll see whether that’s indicative of the film itself whenever we get a proper trailer – and when Bond 25 gets its cinema release (presumably with a different title) on 3 April 2020.
