In early 2020, the first movie will arrive directly addressing allegations from the #MeToo era. Through the late 2010s, women have been speaking out across several industries with stories of sexual harassment, inappropriate behaviour and toxic sexist work cultures – and one of the biggest cases was that involving Roger Ailes, the CEO of Fox News.Bombshell, from directorJay Roachand writerCharles Randolph, tells the story of news anchors Megyn Kelly, Gretchen Carlson and Kayla Pospisil who spoke out against Ailes in 2016. Here’s an exclusive image from the film, as seen in thenew issue ofEmpire.
“It was the year before Harvey [Weinstein],” says Roach of the Ailes story. “These women came out [with their allegations] not exactly expecting a giant surge of support. I thought that was really interesting: telling the story of early ripples in what later became a giant tsunami of revelations.”
