In an unjust world where Germany makes the World Cup final and England doesn't, it is possibly appropriate that the latest dose of lottery funding is going into a film about raining bombs across the teutonic landscape. The straightforwardly titled Bomber will be directed by Four Weddings and a Funeral helmer Mike Newell as one of five projects drawing lottery funds from UK support body The Film Council. Based on the novel by Len Deighton, Bomber follows a 24 hour period, following a fictional Allied bombing raid on Germany from conception to execution. Also receiving a cut of the cash are Himalayan climbing picture Above The Clouds, comedy drama Hjira, family fantasy Young Santa and the intriguingly titled Man and The Mysteries of The Female Orgasm.
