Bollywood Bride

When writer/director Gurinder Chadha announced she was following her international hit Bend It Like Beckham with a musical Bollywood version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice we were, how shall we put it, slightly concerned. It's not every day a low-budget film becomes a sleeper hit in Hollywood after all and this seemed like an odd choice to cement that international success. But we're always happy to admit when we're wrong (actually we're not at all happy about it and you normally have to torture such an admission out of us) and our first glimpse of the teaser trailer for Bride and Prejudice looks like we'll have to revise our opinion of Chadha's choice of follow-up. Looking like a mad mixture of Baz Luhrmann meets Bollywood, Bride and Prejudice is now appearing very interesting indeed. It's just a shame it's only available in poxy Windows Media.
