Stacy Keach also on for Alexander Payne

Bob Odenkirk Joins Nebraska

Alexander Payne is busy gearing up to make his follow up to The Descendants – the long-gestating Nebraska – and has decided that, as Breaking Bad’s Walter White knows, he’d better call Saul. By that, we of course mean he’s cast Bob Odenkirk in the film, with Stacey Keach also now aboard.

Nebraska charts a road trip featuring an aging, booze-happy father (Bruce Dern) who travels from Montana to Nebraska to claim a sweepstakes prize. Along for the ride is his estranged son (Will Forte).

Odenkirk is aboard to play Forte’s older brother, while Keach will be an old colleague of Dern’s grumpy central figure.

Payne is getting set to start shooting on October 15, and has been scouting locations in Nebraska, while also gathering other cast members. Apparently June Squibb, who appeared as Jack Nicholson’s wife in About Schmidt, is in talks to play Dern’s other half here.

As well as his occasional appearances on Breaking Bad, Odenkirk will be seen in **The Spectacular Now **and directed a segment of comedy compilation Movie 43. He’s also lent his voice to Hell & Bac****k. Keach was last seen in **The Bourne Legacy **and will next crop up in The Architect.
