They might be busy getting ready to shoot the film comedy version of cop show 21 Jump Street early next year, but it looks like directing team Phil Lord and Chris Miller could also be deep into developing Bob the Musical for Disney.

The directors, who won themselves plenty of acclaim – not to mention a healthy handful of job offers – after making cg 'toon Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, are apparently in talks to handle the musical for the Mouse House, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bob sees an ordinary bloke suffer a head injury. Instead of massive damage, he starts to hear the inner songs just bursting to get out of the hearts of those around him. He’s not exactly pleased with this newfound ability, however, as it turns the world into a musical around him, against his will.

Since it was first announced, the script has been through several combinations of writers and directors, with Mike Bender penned a take for Adam Shankman and Babaloo Mandel and Lowell Ganz working up something for Mean Girls director Mark Waters. But though none of the previous versions have made it anywhere near production, the one constant has been Hairspray composer Marc Shaiman, who has been hard at work crafting the music and lyrics.

Assuming they lock in their deal, Lord and Miller will look to crack onto Bob once Jump Street is complete, and apparently plan to bring on their own writer to polish up the screenplay.
