The trailers for new Blake Lively thriller The Shallows have focused less on the story itself and more on just putting the leading lady into aquatic danger without trying to give away too much. This latest look at the film continues that tradition, going for mood over plot.
Of course, the film's concept is fairly simple to begin with: Lively is Nancy, a surfer who heads to a stretch of golden sand to contemplate the recent loss of her mum and start the painful process of rebuilding.
This process, she soon discovers, turns out to be less painful than being bitten by a Great White Shark, and before long, she's stranded far from the shore with her finned nemesis circling, waiting for her to try to make it safety.
Jaume Collet-Serra, more usually found wrangling the danger that is a mardy Liam Neeson, calls the shots here, and the movie promises to make us all think twice about heading into the ocean. The Shallows will be out in the UK on August 12.
