Blake Lively May Join Savages

Blake Lively has been an actress in demand for a while now – her name often crops up on lists of possible actresses for various roles and she’s landed a few choice examples, including Carol Ferris in this summer’s Green Lantern. Now Oliver Stone is considering her the front-runner to play the female lead in his drug drama Savages.

Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch are currently in line for the two main roles, that of settled pot growers in Laguna Beach who have their life shaken up when an enforcer from a Mexican drug cartel (a character Benicio Del Toro is in talks to play) arrives to demand that they work for his boss.

After refusing, the pair discovers that he’s kidnapped their shared girlfriend, the free-spirited Ophelia (Lively, if she takes the role). They concoct a plan to rob the cartel’s own supply to pay them back.

So far, Stone hasn’t officially offered her the part – and she’s not the only actress to have met with the director since Jennifer Lawrence passed on it.

But then there’s Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, which Lively has also been taking meetings about, with an eye to playing Glinda the good witch alongside Mila Kunis and James Franco. Variety reports that she’ll likely have to choose one or the other unless the schedules can be worked out, so who knows how it’ll all shake out.

Lively, meanwhile, is at work shooting Hick alongside Chloe Moretz and will be summoned back to the set of Gossip Girl soon enough. But with the number of film offers coming her way, we doubt she’ll hang around the goggle box for long.
