We can only imagine the Ryan Reynolds jokes on Twitter about it – once he had made sure his wife was going to be fine, of course – but Blake Lively has injured her hand while filming spy thriller The Rhythm Section.

Paramount issued a statement to Variety that the incident occurred on set. “Paramount, Global Road and producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli today confirmed that filming has been temporarily suspended on The Rhythm Section as Blake Lively sustained an injury to her hand whilst filming an action sequence. Production will resume as soon as possible."

Meadowland director Reed Moreno is in charge of the movie, which adapts the first book of Mark Burnell's series. Lively is playing Stephanie Patrick, grieving the loss of her family in a plane crash. But when she discovers that the crash was no accident, she goes on a mission to find the truth by becoming an assassin and tracking down those responsible.

That's not the only news to come out of the film – Lively also took to Instagram to document her new look as the main character.

The Rhythm Section was taking aim at a 22 February, 2019 release, and there's no news yet on whether this delay will affect the planned date.
