While people still have their doubts about trying to make a sequel to a classic like Blade Runner, you can't deny that director Denis Villeneuve and producer Ridley Scott have building a fascinating cast around returning lead Harrison Ford. Now we know that Ant-Man's David Dastmalchian and Exodus: Gods And Kings' Hiam Abbass are also aboard the film.

This is the seemingly traditional part where we we inform you that no, we do not yet know what they'll be doing in the film, as anything bar the most basic concept about the plot has been kept strictly secret by the production so far.

Villeneuve is cranking the cameras now for a film reportedly set decades after Scott's 1982 original, which itself took place in 2019. Ford is back as Rick Deckard, with Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis and recent addition Barkhad Abdi part of the cast. The movie itself is still without an official title but is targeting an October 6, 2017 release.

Dastmalchian has form with the director, having appeared in Prisoners. He'll be seen in The Belko Experiment and is part of the sprawling ensemble for the new Twin Peaks series. Abbass, meanwhile, worked with Scott on Exodus.
