There is a musical switch going on behind the scenes at Marvel's Black Widow. And when the movie finally does arrive on screens, it won't be the work of Alexandre Desplat we hear; it'll be that of Lorne Balfe.
Desplat, who has scored films such as The Shape Of Water, 2014's Godzilla and much of Wes Anderson's output, is no longer on Black Widow for reasons that Film Music Reporter doesn't elaborate on, though they could be related to scheduling.
Balfe, on the other hand, is more known for his action scores (Mission: Impossible – Fallout) and Pacific Rim: Uprising among them (though he has plenty of credits on dramas, animated comedies and other movies).
This would raise alarms were Widow keeping to its original 1 May release, but the film is now awaiting a new date. We'd guess it could take over the November slot currently assigned to Eternals.
