The ingredients were already intriguing, with Darren Aronofsky directing and Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel and Mila Kunis as the lead trio, and now, with the arrival of the first trailer for** Black Swan**, you can count us as very, very excited to see the whole thing.
Swan follows veteran ballet dancer Nina (Portman), who finally secures her coveted spot as the chief performer among her company, and seems to be drawing closer to her artistic director (Cassel). But then a younger rival (Kunis) arrives at the school, and the competition for the lead in a production of Swan Lake sees Nina start to spiral into a world where truth and fiction blur and she starts having some serious issues.
A meditation on pressure and the personal intensity between rivals, Black Swan appears to find Aronofsky at the height of his powers, blending erotic tension with some startling visual work. Plus, the three leads (plus the likes of Barbara Hershey as Nina’s ex-dancer mother), all seem to be contributing sterling performances.
Take a look at the trailer for yourself over at Apple. The film is set to open in the US on December 1, but we don’t have a date for the film over here yet.
