Michael B. Jordan and writer Joe Robert Cole worked together on Black Panther – one starring as the charismatic and complicated Killmonger, the other co-writing the script with director Ryan Coogler. So you can imagine the scramble for a project that reunites two of the talents behind the Marvel hit. Netflix has scored the opportunity to make comics adaptation Failsafe.
FJ Desanto and Todd Farmer worked on the title for Vault Comics. It follows John Ravane, a legendary insurgent hunter who thought he had executed the last nanotech-enhanced super soldier, in a personal battle that included the kidnap of his daughter. A decade later, it becomes clear that sleeper agents scattered around the country are activating, in an attempt to take over New York, and the government leader who pressed him into duty last time has been exposed as corrupt.
As of right now, Jordan is producing and will decide whether he'll star in the film once Cole's script comes in. The actor has HBO's adaptation of_Fahrenheit 451_ headed to Cannes before its small-screen debut and is at work on Creed 2. Cole has a few projects in the works, including an adaptation of novel Map Of Bones and, we'd expect, plans to work once again with Coogler on any Black Panther sequel.
