When Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 roll around, we know (almost) for sure that a beloved hero (or heroes) will die. It could be Iron Man, it could be Cap, it could be Thor. But one character you can rule off the death list is Black Panther — Kevin Feige has confirmed that T’Challa will get another headline outing.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Feige said there are story plans in motion for the sequel. While saying he had “nothing specific to reveal”, he added: “We absolutely will do [a sequel]. One of the favorite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a Part One and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a Part Two. There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first Black Panther. We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one.”

Considering that T’Challa is a recent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that Black Panther has already made over $1 billion worldwide within a month, it’s no surprise that T’Challa will avoid a squishing from Thanos and live on for a sequel. Ryan Coogler’s film is currently dominating the box office, and Black Panther fans will also get to see more of the hero — and Danai Gurira’s Okoye and Letitia Wright’s Shuri — when Infinity War arrives next month, with the trailers showing off a huge Wakandan battle.
