Freeze, turkeys! Blaxploitation spoof Black Dynamite looks like it’s dusting off the nunchucks and afro comb for a sequel nearly ten years after the original hit the mean, heroin-filled streets. The news comes via a teaser video posted on Twitter by Michael Jai White, who starred in and co-wrote the 2010 original.

The signs are all looking good: the handlebar moustache is back, there’s literal dynamite (lit by a cigar, no less), and a voiceover declaring that ‘black is back’. The video also suggests a 2018 release, while White replied to a fan on Twitter saying “#staytuned” when asked if the video is for his next film.

Black Dynamite was a critical hit when it arrived, though it received a limited cinema release and drew more fans when it hit DVD. Since then, the character has lived on in animated form on Adult Swim for 20 TV episodes. In short, it’s high time Black Dynamite high-kicked his way back to the big screen.

Little else is known about the sequel for now — but if White’s Twitter feed is any indicator, we shouldn’t have to wait long for more concrete details.
