The fantabulous emancipation of one Harley Quinn is complete – at least in the shooting stage, anyway. DC Comics’ upcoming movie Birds Of Prey has been shooting for the past few months, introducing a new gang of female anti-heroes and bringing Margot Robbie’s fan favourite Harley Quinn back into the fray. An Instagram post shared on the LuckyChap Entertainment account (that’s Robbie’s production company) revealed a new image of Quinn, a first glimpse of the possible logo, and a caption confirming: “That’s a wrap!”
As well as featuring the return of Harley, one of the undeniable highlights of Suicide Squad, Cathy Yan’s film will introduce the titular Birds Of Prey gang – including Jurnee Smollett-Bell’s Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress, and Rosie Perez’s Renee Montoya. They’ll be facing off against Ewan McGregor’s villainous Black Mask, while Chris Messina has been cast as serial killer Victor Zsasz. Here’s an early teaser showing the key players, released just as production began.
With Birds Of Prey expected to be less of a typical CGI-heavy comic book film, there’s a relatively short 10-month post-production period for this one – the film hits cinemas on 7 February 2020.
