It's not everyone who would want to take on the challenge of playing Marlon Brando. But Billy Zane figures he's ready. He's producing and starring in memoir adaptation Waltzing With Brando.

It'll be drawn from Bernard Judge's book, which tells how the mercurial actor picked him, then an obscure yet idealistic Los Angeles architect and turned his world upside down. Brando convinced Judge that he should build the world's first ecologically perfect retreat on a tiny, uninhabitable Tahitian island. It's set mostly between 1969 and 1974.

Bill Fishman, who directed Zane in 1993 Western Posse, will write and shoot this one, with the cameras rolling later this year after the rest of the cast has been found.

Zane has worked on TV drama Curfew, and will be seen in comedy thriller Trouble Sleeping.
