While his younger self was brought to life by Donald Glover in this year's Solo: A Star Wars Story, the Lando we know from the classic trilogy is back to reclaim his cape collection. Billy Dee Williams has been confirmed as returning for Star Wars Episode IX.
How Lando will factor into the story for the new film, with JJ Abrams back directing, has yet to be revealed, but rumours had begun to swirl about a potential return for Calrissian the elder in recent weeks, with The Hollywood Reporter sources now saying it's a done deal, albeit one we hope will work in Williams' favour and not get worse all the time{
Though he only played Lando twice in the original trilogy, Williams has not been a stranger to the Star Wars universe, returning to voice Lando in the likes of Star Wars Rebels and The Lego Movie. He'll be seen in the film, which already features Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac and John Boyega. And, assuming her own deal goes through, Keri Russell.
Abrams has been writing the new movie with Chris Terrio, and filming is kicking off soon ready for the planned 19 December 2019 release date.
