After more than four years without directing, Billy Bob Thornton is stepping back behind the camera in Floyd Collins, a drama for Paramount Pictures about the true-life story of the titular cave explorer. He's also play the eponymous spelunker.
Set in 1925, it tells the story of Collins, who was trapped in a Kentucky cave for 15 days, sparking a huge media frenzy. The script has been adapted by Thornton's writing partner Tom Epperson from the book "Trapped: The Story of Floyd Collins" by Robert Murray and Roger Brucker.
Interestingly, Collins' story was previously made into a musical - but somehow we doubt that Billy Bob will take that route.
