If Tenet is the film that’s going to revitalise all of our brains as lockdown lifts, another long-awaited summer movie seems likely to be the one that gets our hearts singing: the much-anticipated return of William ‘Bill’ S. Preston and Theodore ‘Ted’ Logan in belated threequel Bill & Ted Face The Music. The slacker duo are back for the first time since 1991’s Bogus Journey for a new adventure, once again starring Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves as the titular pair, as they face a ticking clock on their mission to write the song that will literally save the world.

The bad news is, UK fans are going to have to wait longer than American audiences before they can get their Wyld Stallyn air guitars amped up again. While Face The Music hits US screens on 28 August (on VOD and with a limited cinema release), its confirmed UK release date sees it hit here on 23 September. The good news is, it’s going to be a full-on theatrical release over here, sure to provide big, silly, nostalgic escapist fun on the big screen. With UK cinemas now mostly open with added safety measures, and Tenet releasing next week on 26 August, all signs point to Bill & Ted getting the theatrical launch they’ve waited nearly 30 years for.

As well as Reeves and Winter, the film stars Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine as the duo’s daughters, with William Sadler returning as Death, and all kinds of historical cameos. If the extra month’s wait will be somewhat heinous, UK fans can keep themselves amused in the meantime with Weezer’s new tie-in music video for their song ‘Beginning Of The End’, which features on the Face The Music soundtrack.
