By and large, 2020 has not been excellent. But if anyone can inspire us all to party on, it’s the Wyld Stallyns themselves, Ted ‘Theodore’ Logan and Bill S. Preston. With the loveable doofus duo set to return to the big screen in long-awaited threequel Bill & Ted Face The Music later this summer, that’s not the only bodacious Bill & Ted news to be excited about – because their beloved original outing, 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, has been scrubbed up and given the 4K treatment. No way? Yes way! Watch the shiny new restoration trailer below.
And that’s not all – the film also has a brand new poster by artist Carlos Dattoli, created especially for the 4K release.
Directed by Stephen Herek, and penned by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon who also wrote Bogus Journey and the upcoming Face The Music, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure sees Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves’ slacker buddies travel through time in order to complete their school history report – coming across Napoleon, Freud, Abraham Lincoln, and all kinds of historical babes along the way.
The 4K restoration will be available from 10 August – 4K UHD Blu-ray, limited edition Steelbook, Blu-ray, DVD and digital download. Plus for those with enough dedication (and a car), you can catch a drive-in screening through Luna Cinema – more info on that here. Whether or not Covid forces Face The Music to move further off into the future, one thing’s for sure: this will still be the summer of Bill & Ted. And that is most excellent.
