In news that can only be described as ‘excellent’, Bill & Ted are really, officially making a comeback. Nearly 30 years since their Bogus Journey, the Wyld Stallyns themselves – Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves – are returning to the big screen in a threequel titled Bill & Ted Face The Music. Production is due to begin on the film this summer, ready for release on 21 August 2020. Cue the air guitars. To mark the long-awaited confirmation of the film, the stars recorded a special video message, thanking fans of the original Bill & Ted movies for making this one happen.
Bill & Ted Face The Music will be directed by Galaxy Quest’s Dean Parisot, with a screenplay by the writers of the previous Bill & Ted movies, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. It even has an official synopsis: “Following 1989's Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and 1991's Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, the stakes are higher than ever for William "Bill" S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore "Ted" Logan (Reeves). Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.”
Time travel? Rock and roll destiny? Cameos? That’s Bill & Ted through and through – and with Reeves and Winter clearly enthused that this is finally happening, Face The Music should be… well, excellent. Bring on summer 2020.
