Bill Paxton might not have been part of the gunplay in Haywire, but he’s been making up for that recently, playing a key role alongside Kevin Costner in violent family feud miniseries Hatfields & McCoys. Now it seems he’s got the taste for weapons, and has entered negotiations to join the cast of 2 Guns.
He’ll join Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington in the film, which sees a DEA agent and an undercover naval intelligence officer unknowingly investigating each other when they both steal mob money. We predict a lot of tense stand-offs and plenty of growling / shouting (plus growly shouting and shouty growling). Paxton would be playing a high-ranking CIA operative who gets drawn into the messy affair. Paula Patton is also aboard, playing Washington’s love interest.
Contraband director Baltasar Kormákur will be calling the shots, working from a script by Blake Masters. It kicked off filming this week and will be blasting its way into cinemas next year.
In addition to his TV work, Paxton has also shot a role in romantic comedy drama Shanghai Calling and is attached to direct a film remake of cult telly series Kung Fu.
