Bill Nighy is no stranger to horror, having appeared in all three of the Underworld films (admittedly, the last two were more horrific for those of us watching than anything that happened on screen), so an adaptation of Peter Straub’s 1980 novel **Shadowland feels like something of a natural fit for him. And no, it's nothing to do with CS Lewis or Anthony Hopkins.

Shock ‘Till You Drop brings word that PFG Entertainment is gearing up a film based on the book, which finds a pair of university students charmed into a world of magic and danger by an older man (played, we assume, by Nighy, since he’s got the charismatic chops to make the role work) who's into all that sorcery stuff. The two leads are initially seduced by the powerful spells they’re exposed to, but soon must face a devastating choice between the forces of evil and saving their lives.

Natalie Dormer, last seen having her noggin sliced off as Anne Boleyn in TV series The Tudors, has also signed on for a role.

Director Erik Canuel is behind the camera for the film, which features a script by Larry Leahy, who usually makes his living as a script co-ordinator yet is back at the keyboard for the adaptation.

Oh, and because you never tire of us banging on about this, it’ll be shot in 3D. That said, the magically-flavoured plot does seem to be a decent choice for the stereoscopic treatment…
