Though it’s not directly referencing the previous films, Paul Feig’s new take on Ghostbusters is finding plenty of ways to nod to the work of Ivan Reitman, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and the rest. With Aykroyd having let slip about a cameo, it now seems that the notoriously hard to pin down Bill Murray will also be showing up in some capacity{
Rumours were sparked when Murray was seen walking to the set, but there was always the chance he was just visiting to see the likes of Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Kristen Wiig in action as the new team. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, he will make an appearance. We’d doubt it will be as the wise-cracking Peter Venkman, but it’ll be nice to see him tip the nod to Feig’s crew. It’s also surprising, since Murray has been the big hold-out on new Ghostbusters films – he famously joked about shredding a script for the third outing of the original cast and has been hesitant thanks to his misgivings over Ghostbusters II.
Now, of course, we want to know whether Ernie Hudson will also be popping up to complete the set of surviving main Ghostbuster cameos. Feig’s film, which also has Chris Hemsworth, Michael Kenneth Williams, Andy Garcia, Cecily Strong, Matt Walsh, Nate Corddry and Neil Casey in its cast, will arrive in UK cinemas on July 22 next year.
