Danielle Harris has already set the precedent for playing two different characters in a single horror franchise (she was Jamie Lloyd in a couple of the original Halloween sequels and Annie Brackett in the Rob Zombie versions). Which makes it completely OK for Bill Moseley to turn out for **The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D... even if he won't be playing Chop Top.
Whatever you make of the lunatic mess that is Tobe Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, there's no denying that Moseley is a highlight (he's never been short of horror work since). Chop Top is Leatherface's brother, sort of transmogrified from the headcheese-loving hitch-hiker of the first film. A vietnam veteran, he has an exposed metal plate in his head, and the habit of picking at the wound around it with a coathanger.
All of which is irrelevant, since in Chainsaw 3D, Moseley will be playing "Drayton". It's not clear yet whether that's the same Drayton played by Bill Siedow in the originals - the "cook" and father figure of the cannibal family, although he's actually the older brother - or whether it's a different character and the name is just an homage...
Chainsaw 3D ignores the most recent two reboots (and, it seems, all the other sequels) and apparently picks up directly from the original original. It follows lead character Heather, who travels with a group of friends to Texas to collect an inheritance, with the unfortunate twist that the bequest involves taking custody of ol' cousin Leatherface himself.
Kirsten Elms took the most recent stab at the screenplay; Marc Burg is producing; Mark Luessenhop (Takers) is directing; and shooting starts shortly for a release next year.
