It's been a while since we heard much about one of DreamWorks Animation's projects, Me And My Shadow**, which has been bubbling away since it was announced in December 2010. But now the 'toon team have let slip details of the movie's lead voice cast, with Bill Hader, Kate Hudson and Josh Gad as the main trio.

Shadow focuses on Stan (Hader), a shadow who is bored and resentful of his being attached to timid and dull human Stanley Grubb (Gad). But then a crime in the shadow community threatens them both, and a villain from Stan's side starts leading a rebellion to take over the human world. To try to stop him, Stan must take control of Stanley, which leads to an epic adventure for both of them. Hudson factors into the story as a possible love interest for Grubb.

Tom J Astle and Matt Ember, who worked on Get Smart, have written the script. And How To Train Your Dragon's head of story, Alessandro Carloni, has taken over as director, making his first move into the big chair.

This will also mark something of a departure for DWA, since it'll blend 2D hand-drawn animation for the shadow world with 3D CGI for our own. The film is scheduled to hit on November 13 next year, but there's no sign yet whether it'll be day-and-date over here.

Hader, who has the 'toon likes of Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs already on his CV, will next crop up as Andy Warhol in Men In Black 3. Hudson has just worked on The Reluctant Fundamentalist and Gad, who has been spending most of his time appearing on Broadway in The Book Of Mormon, will next be heard rather than seen in Ice Age: Continental Drif****t.
