We've often commented that, after years of development limbo, dashed hopes and false starts, that we won't believe a new Bill & Ted movie is on the way until it's actually shooting. Well, now we have faith in Alex Winter's William S. Preston Esq. and Keanu Reeves' Theodore Logan, as Bill & Ted Face The Music has indeed started production, with Winter tweeting out an image to celebrate.

Face The Music finds Bill and Ted yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, so the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.

Brigette Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving will be Billie Logan and Thea Preston, the duo's daughters, with Erinn Hayes and Jayma Mays as Princess Elizabeth and Princess Joanna. Returning to duty? William Sadler as the Grim Reaper, Amy Stoch as Missy and Hal Landon Jr. as Captain Logan. SNL's Beck Bennett, meanwhile, will be Ted's younger brother, Deacon.

With Dean Parisot in the director's chair, original writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon wrote the script for the film, which is due out (in the US, at least) on 21 August next year. Don't forget to be excellent to each other.
