Channel 4's shell-suited rude-boy Ali G will be taking some time away from the Staines massive when the character makes his first feature appearance, due to begin shooting next year. According to The Mirror, Sacha Baron Cohen, creator of Ali G, has just signed a multi-million pound deal with Working Title Films to star in, write and executive produce the provisionally titled** Ali G Project**. The film, which could be the first of several, will certainly please fans of Da Ali G Show, featuring favourite characters camp Austrian Bruno and East European reporter Borat Karabzhanov. The controversial character, who caused accusations of racism in his imitation of black street-culture, has gained a cult following since his first appearance on The 11 O'Clock Show. Ali G has humiliated 'guests' from Tony Benn to Neil Hamilton with his satirical interviews. Translating the disjointed nature of the show into a coherent story should prove a difficult task, and Cohen's hopes rest on making sure the spoof gangsta can retain his appeal on the big screen.
