No, we’re not missing a word off that headline: this trailer does not feature Sheldon, Leonard, Raj or any of the other Big Bang Theory geeks. But they’d probably appreciate a promo that does boast Antonio Banderas, Snoop Dogg, nekkid ladies and what looks like the Large Hadron Collider’s only slightly smaller cousin.
In a surreal mash-up of film noir style and one of the more eclectic casts to gather in front of a camera for a while now, **The Big Bang **finds Banderas as private eye Ned Cruz, hired to find a missing woman. Who also happens to be a stripper, and the girlfriend of a hulking heavy (Sherlock Holmes’ Robert Maillet.)
His search leads him to a porno set where director Puss (Snopp Dogg) is shooting his latest opus, and also to a massive physics experiment being run by nutty billionaire Simon Kestrel (Sam Elliott). Along the way there are more strippers, more crooks and even more character stalwarts, including William Fichtner, Delroy Lindo, Rebecca Mader and even James Van Der Beek as (what else?) a spoiled, kinky actor.
We’re hoping this one, from agent/producer-turned-director Tony Krantz doesn’t sink into sub-Tarantino-style clichés, especially since it boasts a script from Band of Brothers veteran Eric Jendresen.
The trailer’s sitting over at Apple. The film should be out later this year (and will hit American cinemas on May 13.)
