Beyonce Knowles has joined the cast of Cadillac Records as Etta James, singer of such hits as 'At Last' and 'I Just Want To Make Love To You', according to an interview that BlackFilm.com conducted with Cedric The Entertainer.

Cadillac Records is the story of the Chicago music scene in the 1950s, including the start of the careers of singers like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Elvis Presley. Adrien Brody and Jeffrey Wright are already among the cast.

Beyonce's not exactly what you'd call a dead spit for James, who was always, from the pictures we can find, a little more solidly built than Ms Knowles and had some pretty intimidating eyebrows. Her voice is also very different, but if Beyonce can work up a bit of a rough edge on the louder notes, then she could probably pull it off.
