We've had a few members of Jon Favreau's new Lion King cast revealed in little chunks – Donald Glover as Simba, for example, or James Earl Jones returning as Mustafa. Now Disney has decided to reveal the entire list, which will include Beyonce Knowles-Carter, Eric Andre, Black Panther's Florence Kasumba and Keegan-Michael Key.
Beyonce will be Nala, Simba's sparring partner and love interest through the years, while Andre, Key and Kasumba are playing the menacing hyenas. Young Simba and Nala are JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright.
They join the already-announced group that includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, John Kani, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner and John Oliver. "It is a director's dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life," says Favreau in a statement. He's been at work on the film in LA for a while already, using the techniques of The Jungle Book to bring the animal cast to life. The film itself will be out on 19 July, 2019.
